My Bio

Nanae Green with leiA native of the Yokohama area of Japan, I began studying piano at the age of ten. I studied for a few years initially but unfortunately had to quit because our family moved and I couldn’t find a suitable teacher in my new home. I didn’t rediscover my love of piano until I was twenty, taking lessons for another three years.

It was then that I moved to the United States to go to college in 1997. After exploring different fields of study, it was in 1999 when my heart led me to the decision to study piano. I was surrounded by amazing teachers and practiced regularly for 6 to 8 hours a day! I finished my bachelor’s degree from Jacksonville University, FL in 2004 and continued my study of piano further, earning a master’s degree from San Diego State University, CA in 2007.

Besides playing my piano, I also love traveling. So far I’ve been lucky enough to visit Germany, Belgium, France and even Sri Lanka!  I’m also a big fan of reading, photography and dancing — lately I’ve developed a passion for dancing salsa!
